Thank you for your interest in our CIT program! The position of C.I.T. at Winding Trails Summer Day Camp is an important one. If chosen, you we will help you develop many of the tools needed to work with children such as: child safety and supervision, interactions for appropriate age levels, new games and activites for kids, and leadership skills. Although meeting new friends and having fun at camp is a by-product of this program, this should not be your primary motive for applying- you should be applying because you have a desire to work with children in a camp setting.

The C.I.T. program is designed as a two-year program for entering ninth and tenth graders. First year CITs are required to work two consecutive sessions. Second year CITs are required to do a minimum of two sessions, but can do more if they choose (sessions must be consecutive, no gaps). All CITs are required to attend a minimum of two family campfire events or Family Nights. CITs are expected to work all days of their chosen sessions, unless they are excused for an illness or medical emergency with a physician's note.

This program has become very popular in recent years and competition for our few available openings has been overwhelming. Take your time and fill out the CIT application completely. It must be filled out by the CIT, not by the parent. Be sure to list any experience you have in working with children, participation in camps, sports or clubs. Also, give some thought to the essay question and why you want to be in the program- the essay is an important part of helping us get to know you a little bit before you come in for your interview!

Once your application, essay and references have been recieved we will contact you to schedule your interview. Final decisions on who will be accepted into the program will be based upon the following criteria: application/experience/references 25%, essay 25% and interview 50%.

The closing date for applying for the CIT program is February 26, 2027. All interviews will be held Saturday, March 6, 2027.

Three reference forms are required for each applicant. References should be completed by non members of the family. The best people to ask for a reference are teachers, coaches, instructors; people who can evaluate the applicant without bias and these forms should be sent to Winding Trails directly from the applicant to ensure confidentiality. Employees of Winding Trails, Inc. are not permitted to complete reference forms for any applicant.
